Move-In Mania (Move into Residence Halls)

First-Year Students will be able to move into the Residence Halls from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Move in for first year students has been coined as “Move-In Mania” There will be several representatives of UT Martin student organizations available to assist with your move in. Take advantage of their service. Along with their strong backs, they can provide a wealth of campus information!

Skyhawk Central

Both students and parents should plan to stop by Skyhawk Central in the University Center. Students can officially sign in for Welcome Weekend and take care of other last minute business such as parking stickers, meal plans, fee payments, schedule revision, textbook pick up and purchases, and check on financial aid.

Solution Central

Solution Central is located in the University Center Room 229. Student Services and Success Mentoring Center advisors and staff are available to assist students with class schedule changes, change of major forms, add or change General Studies 101 classes, locating PEP groups, and answering questions covering a host of academic concerns. If you have a concern or a problem that needs attention, Solution Central is the place to come.

Sodexo Meal Plan Begins in Dining Hall (Friends and Family pay at Dining Room Entry)

All first-year students residing on campus are required to purchase a meal plan. Starting with the noon meal on Thursday, your Sodexo meal plan will be activated and you will able to eat in the Dining Hall for the balance of the semester. Non-meal plan students, and the families and friends of our students are invited to eat in the Dining Hall with their student. Lunch is priced at $5.00 and the evening meal at $7.00. Both meals are Welcome Weekend specials.

Legacy Luncheon (INVITATION ONLY)

The Legacy Luncheon is reserved for Alumni and their first-year students who plan to attend the University. At the luncheon there will be a scholarship presentation in which several first-year students will receive an award on behalf of the Alumni Association. This is an invitation only activity.

Parents’ Informative Session

Parents are encouraged to attend the Parent’s Informative Session in the Watkins Auditorium located in the Boling University Center. Parent Informative Sessions have been scheduled for Thursday, for those parent’s whose student checks in on Thursday, and for Friday, for those parent’s whose student checks in on Friday. University staff will be on hand to answer any last minute questions parents may have. Parents will also be briefed on weekend events and the Opening Ceremony. Refreshments will be served.

Dinner with family/friends (Sodexo meal plan students, friends and family pay at Dining Hall Entry)

First Meeting with PEP Leader (For Residence Hall First Year students who check-in on Thursday)

All first-year students who moved into their residence hall room on Thursday will report to their assigned General Studies 101 classroom to meet their PEP Leaders. Your PEP Leader will be with you throughout the duration of the fall semester and will guide and mentor you as you adjust to campus life. During this first meeting, you will be given a brief overview of the Opening Ceremony scheduled for Friday and what to expect during Welcome Weekend.

Resident Hall Floor Meeting (Residential Students Only)

Each residence hall will hold a mandatory meeting in which residential students will be able to meet their Resident Assistants and the Hall Director of their residence hall. At this time, students will be given important information regarding residence hall policies, conduct expectations, and involvement opportunities.

Parent Association Meetings have been scheduled for Thursday, for those parent's whose student checks in of Thursday; and for Friday, for those parent's whose student checks in on Friday. University staff will be on hand to answer any last minute questions parents may have. Parents will also be briefed on weekend events and the Opening Ceremony. Refreshments will be served.

Opening Ceremony

The Welcome Weekend Opening Ceremony is a time for students and parents to be introduced to university leadership, traditions, and the First-Year Initiative program. Alumni, Faculty, and Staff will also be in attendance as we welcome you to the UT Martin family. All parents, friends and family members are invited to attend the ceremony.

The Student Activities Council exists to provide entertainment and program opportunities for students throughout the year. Some of the programs include comedians, magicians, concerts, and guest speakers. Check with your PEP Leader for more information.

During this meeting, your PEP Leader will spend quality time with you by engaging in ice breaker activities, team building activities, and by answering any questions you may have about your schedule, Greek life, student organizations, or the upcoming semester.

You will be required to attend several campus presentations which will be given by various leaders on campus. Lunch in the Sodexo Dining Hall will be one of these rotations. All students including commuters will eat in the dining hall. The presentation of your Skyhawk card is required in order for you to eat.

Picnic and Recreation Rampage

The Office of Campus Recreation will host “The Recreation Rampage” in which students will be able to participate in a series of games and activities to win prizes. This is an exciting time to let loose, have fun, and most importantly… win free stuff! A picnic style dinner will be served.

Bill Cordes is a professional speaker who offers a dynamic academic presentation. The “You Only Get Out What You Put In” presentation always gets students pumped and ready for the first day of classes!

The City of Martin Merchants and UT Martin Student Organization Fair

This is an opportunity for students to get connected with businesses in Martin and different organizations on campus. Some of the merchants offer prize giveaways, free merchandise, coupons, or even free samples. Come on out to this upbeat event and explore the many opportunities UT Martin and the City of Martin have to offer!
