International and Area Studies
UT Martin offers students two cross-disciplinary programs designed to expand their knowledge of the "global village" in which we live today and to encourage them to travel and study abroad.
International
Studies
International studies features broadly-based coursework
which prepares students for eventual careers in
fields such as government, foreign service, international
business, and international law. To earn this major
students complete a minimum of 42 hours of courework
in four components:
18
hours - Core Courses
18-21 hours - Area Concentration
6-12 hours - Travel Study
12 hours - Foreign Language Minor

Canadian
Studies
Canadian Studies offers students a general introduction
to the important country which is the United States'
closest ally and largest trading partner. Students
complete an 18-hour minor which introduces them
to Canadian history, geography, politics, society,
and culture and emphasizes U.S.-Canada relations.
Students must travel to and study in Canada to complete
this minor.
