Guy Wadley attended UT Martin Junior College and was a two-year standout for the team in 1949-50. In his freshman season, he played quarterback, served as team captain, and was selected as Most Valuable Player by his teammates. His sophomore season, he was moved to running back to take advantage of his speed and again served as a team captain.
He served as president of the UTJC Lettermen's Club, and was a member of the UTJC Student Council. During his sophomore year, he had the honor of crowning his future wife, Frances Hurt, as Football Queen at the 1950 UTJC Homecoming. He had a chance to continue his football career at the four-year level, but chose to remain in Martin.
