Jones was one of the individuals who worked and volunteered her time in the advancement of women’s intercollegiate athletics at the university.
She joined the physical education staff in 1970. In addition she coached the co-ed badminton team for seven years. In ’73, she agreed to also coach the volleyball team. She moved the volleyball team from a total walk-on program to a recognized Southern Region Division II contender with scholarships.
Her teams won five TCWSF championships and numerous invitational tournaments through her tenure. The 1975 team participated in the AIAW National Small College Volleyball Tournament while the ’76 team posted a 42-12 record. Her total record was 278-195. She was also involved in the Lady Pacer basketball program by becoming a trained and rated official as in the early days of women’s basketball travelling teams often had to furnish officials.
