University Scholars Prospect Weekend
News: Scholars Prospect Weekend for freshmen entering UTM Fall 2008 will be held February 14-16. Apply now!
While it is not necessary to cover all of the Prospect Weekend information on this Web site, including an outline of what events normally happen during the weekend is a useful resource for prospective students. Please note that this schedule is likely to change from year to year and should only be viewed as a guideline.

| 1-5 p.m. |

Students and families arrive at Honors Center; meet hosts.
(Note: students may choose to arrive Friday or Saturday). |
| 5-7 p.m. |
|
Students eat supper with faculty and Scholars student hosts. |
| 8 p.m. |
|
No required activities. Students may go to panel discussion with Scholars.
Students may stay in dormitories if they wish. |

Breakfast (complimentary student meal ticket for campus cafeteria). |
| 9 a.m.-Noon |
|
Students attend classes with Scholars hosts. |
| 12-1 p.m. |
|
Lunch (complimentary student meal ticket for campus cafeteria). |
| 1-2 p.m. |
|
Students and families take campus tours. |
| 2-3 p.m. |
|
Students visit faculty in their intended major fields. |
| 3-4 p.m. |
|
Financial aid workshop for parents in Honors Center-Tennessee Room (optional). |

|
Students participate in small-group discussions with Honors Council
members in University Center-230 ABC. |
| 5:15-6 p.m. |
|
Gathering: reception for students, family and faculty in Boling University Center-second floor lobby. |
| 6-7 p.m. |
|
Students and families attend banquet with faculty in U.C-206. |
| 8 p.m. - Midnight |
|
Scholars hosts meet students for evening social activities (optional) at Holland McCombs Honors Center. Students may stay in dormitories if they wish. |

|
Complimentary continental breakfast for students and families in University Center 2nd floor lounge. |
| 8:30a.m.-Noon |
|
Students alternate between small-group interviews with Honors Council in U.C. and essay writing in Humanities Computer lab (note: this is a different essay from the one that accompanies your written application).
Students arriving Saturday take campus tour and have orientation. |
| 10-11 a.m. |
|
Financial aid workshop for parents in Honors Center-Tennessee Room (optional). Repeat of Friday's session. |
| 12-1:30 p.m. |
|
Chancellor's Luncheon: Students, families, Honors Council, and selected University Scholars students attend luncheon in University Center-230. Scholars students make presentations about the Scholars program. Students who have completed all above activities (interview and essay) may depart for home following the luncheon. |
| 2-4 p.m. |
|
Students alternate between small-group interviews with Honors Council and essay writing in Humanities Computer Lab. Students may depart for home following the completion of the essay and interview. |
