Office of Housing - Battle of the Halls
What is Battle of the Halls?
First and foremost, the point of Battle of the Halls is to have fun. But the Battle of the Halls is about more than just having a good time. We want to increase resident participation in campus activities to promote social interactions, promote service to the community, make an impact on the environment and recognize student leaders on campus.
Event and Intramural Participation Points
Participation points are given based on percentages of hall participation in Battle of the Halls programming and for involvement in intramural sports (housing teams only). Base points will be given to halls for just participating; winning teams are subject to receive bonus points.
Community Service Points
Each hour of community service worked by a resident will be worth points towards their Hall. You can submit community service hours on your halls orgsync page by clicking on forms and then completing the Battle of the Halls Campus Community Service Form. Any service done on behalf of your class, organization, department, or UTM Housing will qualify.
Environmental Points
Battle of the Halls will be awarding the Halls for their "green" activity. In addition to measuring the recycling output of each hall, the electrical output of the halls will be measured relative to occupancy percentage with points going to halls with the most recyclables and least amount of energy consumed.
Campus Leadership Points
With over 130 organizations on campus, it's almost impossible not to get involved. To encourage residents' involvement, points can be awarded for students who attain a leadership/executive role in a campus organization or Greek Life. Similarly, departmental and academic awards will also be eligible. Students may submit their achievement via your halls OrgSync page under files and fill out the Battle of the Halls Leadership Submission Form. Points are subject to Housing's decision.
