At the Spring Banquet sponsored by the College of Business and Public Affairs at the University of Tennessee at Martin two former TIEP students were honored. Miao Ling Chen and Li Chien Lin of Taiwan along with a number of American students were inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, an honorary business society. Dr Ernest Moser, Dean of the College of Business presented the certificates of honor. We at TIEP are extremely proud to see our former students succeed and receive such well-deserved honors with their American colleagues. Congratulations!

Dear TIEP teachers!
I am Eriko Sasaki and I used to study at TIEP in 1998. I hope you are all doing well. I just found mail has arrived from you and started thinking of you all. I heard the sad news about Dr. Eisterhold after I came back to Hiroshima. My heart was aching very badly. I hope his family is doing well. After I came back to Japan, I finished my undergraduate degree and became an English teacher at a junior high school in Hiroshima. I enjoyed teaching there for three years. Last year I got married in a Japanese traditional way at a shrine in Hiroshima. My husband is German, working as a chemistry researcher in Japan. I hope to hear from you what is going on in Martin, my loving town. Thank you very much for all of your love and care while I was in Martin.
Please take care.
With a lot of appreciation.
Eriko (Sasaki) Uehlin
Sung Hwei Park and Shu Chun Liu ("Angela") plan to have their wedding ceremony on September 4 beside the Pacer Pond in Martin. Congratulations!!
Rocío Wallace received the Outstanding student award at the End-of-Term Farewell Party this Summer. Rocío practiced dentistry in Peru before coming to TIEP at UT Martin to perfect her English skills.
Because of a need to upgrade the telephone system on the University of Tennessee at Martin campus there will be a change in all of the telephone numbers. The old number for the Office of International Programs was 731-881-7340. The new number is 731-881-7340. Notice that all of the numbers with 587 prefix on campus have changed to an 881 prefix. Any telephone numbers of houses and businesses in Martin are not affected, only university telephone numbers. So, the new FAX number for the Office of International Programs is 731-881-7322. We are in the process of updating the telephone numbers on the TIEP web site in its many languages.
Conversation Partners Program brings upper-level International TIEP students and American regular curriculum students together. Introductions take place in an information gathering and students meet several times over the course of the eight-week TIEP term.
