Welcome to Martin, Tennessee and UTM!
Martin is a quiet, peaceful city in northwest Tennessee. It is two hours from Memphis and 2.5 hours from Nashville. Martin is a very walkable city. Classes, banks, shopping, restaurants and laundry are easily accessible by foot or bicycle. The traditional small town life is perfect for international students to experience American culture first hand.
UTM was ranked as the safest campus in the state according to 2014 Crime on Campus report by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. The beautiful campus has an award-winning variety of trees and flower gardens, with lighted walkways throughout. With just 7,000 students from 16 different countries, it is both diverse and tranquil.
The university has modern state-of-the-art library facilities and fiber-optic cable connections in university housing and around campus. All students have an automatic membership to the Student Recreation Center, where they can play volleyball, basketball or badminton, lift weights, use the cardio machines and take part in fitness classes such as Zumba and Yoga.
Sporting events, fraternity and sorority gatherings, live performances and festivals make this a perfect place to make friends. Off campus, there is shopping, dining out, and boating, fishing and camping at Reelfoot Lake.
