What Is Banner?
Banner is UT Martin's Student Information System, a modular software package licensed from the SCT Corporation. This system is used to gather and distribute information about students from the time they first contact the university until they graduate. Banner also contains data pertaining to faculty and staff, course catalog, accounts receivable, and financial aid. Banner includes a web interface which enables students and faculty to access and update certain portions of their information online. For example, students can register for classes, check their course schedule, and pay their fees, from any location via a web browser. Additional features to the Banner Web interface are continually being developed.
Banner supplies the core needs for a student information system, with scalability and flexibility, enabling the Information Technology Services staff to maintain a state-of-the-art student information system within the framework of a modestly sized staff.
Banner Training
Banner training classes are periodically scheduled and announced on the campus-l email list. For more information about future training schedules, please contact Angela Fortner (Help Desk Supervisor) at 7890, or email her at: afortner@utm.edu.
