MANUSCRIPTS
The Manuscript Collection mainly consists of historically significant nineteenth and twentieth century records, personal papers and other ephemera produced in Northwestern Tennessee by individuals or organizations that reside, or have resided, in the region. Unpublished materials from the counties of Weakley, Obion, Dyer, Gibson, Lake, Henry, Carroll and Benton are represented and continue to be acquired. Included in the collection are personal diaries, local business ledgers and miscellaneous materials relevant to the history and cultural development of Northwestern Tennessee. Due to the fragile condition of the original records and to preserve material responsibly, requests to photocopy entire files from the Weakley County chancery court records will no longer be filled. The records remain available for inspection in the Special Collections reading room during departmental hours. Requests for specific data from the files will be honored as staff are able to search and respond.
