The
Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Tennessee at Martin is part of the
College of Engineering and Natural Sciences. The department
provides degree programs for the mathematics major, and offers minors
in both statistics and mathematics.
Our department consists of a diverse and creative
faculty dedicated to teaching, technology and research. Faculty
are active in supporting a mathematics club, a mathematics colloquium,
and a mathematics laboratory for students. All faculty are involved
in using computerized resources. Some, at the forefront of calculator
technology, offer seminars in their use, while other members are
involved in exploring the Internet, html and Java as tools for teaching
and learning.
Many faculty members are actively involved in new research. Examples
of areas of interest include n-color Frobenius partitions,
the discovery and distribution of primes, realcompact sets, orbifolds,
visualization using spreadsheets statistical consulting, and ranking
& selection procedures. |
