MARTIN, Tenn. – U.S. News & World Report has named the University of Tennessee at Martin’s online Master of Business Administration program the highest-ranked program in Tennessee, according to a recently released list of the best online MBA programs for 2017.
The UT Martin program holds the 36th spot and is one of only four Tennessee institutions to be published in this year’s rankings.
U.S. News & World Report evaluated institutions in the 2016 list based on student engagement, admissions selectivity, peer reputation, faculty credentials and training, and student services and technology.
The student engagement category examines how accessible instructors are to online students and how often those students are encouraged to interact with their instructors and classmates. Admissions selectivity evaluates the quality of students who are accepted to begin the MBA program, and the peer reputation category looks at how academics from similar institutions view a UT Martin MBA degree.
The ranking also takes faculty credentials and training into account, examining how closely the credentials of online instructors mirror those of their on-campus counterparts. An institution’s student services and technology capabilities make up the final category, which identifies what types of online technology are available to make distance learning a flexible option for online students. This category also includes services such as career guidance, financial aid resources and student support structures and the extent to which these are made available to online students.
“UT Martin's Online MBA program is highly regarded and surprisingly affordable,” said Dr. Ross Dickens, professor and dean, College of Business and Global Affairs. “It is an excellent combination of quality and value.”
The UT Martin program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
