“Benjamin Franklin and the Birth of American Identity”
H.W. Brands is Distinguished Professor of History and holder of the Melbern G. Glasscock Chair in American History at Texas A&M University. He is the author of sixteen books and dozens of articles and is the associate editor of Presidential Studies Quarterly. His 2000 book, The First American: The Life and Times of Benjamin Franklin was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and a New York Times bestseller. Dr. Brands will speak on “Benjamin Franklin and the Birth of American Identity” on Monday, February 9 at 7:30 PM in the Watkins Auditorium of the University Center.
