Dr. Roy Van Arsdale , September 28, 2009

Roy Van Arsdale is Professor of Geology at the University of Memphis.   A fellow of the Geological Society of America, Dr. Van Arsdale is a specialist in structural geology and geomorphology, with his research centering upon active tectonics within plate interiors.  He has published over 50 refereed journal articles, many of them concerned with the Mississippi River Valley and the New Madrid seismic zone.  His most recent work, Adventures Through Deep Time: The Central Mississippi River Valley and its Earthquakes was published in August 2009.  He will speak on The Past and Possible Future of the New Madrid Seismic Zone on Monday, September 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Watkins Auditorium of the Boling University Center.  Roy Van Arsdale’s appearance is sponsored by Honors Programs.
