Featured Speaker: Mr. Roy Gutman

Monday, September 21, 2009 - "Osama bin Laden, the Taliban, and the Hijacking of Afghanistan"

 

Roy Gutman is the foreign editor for McClatchy newspapers in Washington D.C. Mr. Gutman has served as a foreign affairs journalist for over forty years with Newsday, Reuters, United Press International, and Newsweek. His reporting has been honored with several prestigious awards, most notably the 1993 Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting, for his reports on ethnic cleansing in Bosnia, including the first documented accounts of Serb-run concentration camps. Mr. Gutman has authored several books, most recently How We Missed the Story: Osama Bin Laden, the Taliban, and the Hijacking of Afghanistan (2008). This book will serve as the subject of his lecture, as he will speak on Osama bin Laden, the Taliban, and the Hijacking of Afghanistan on Monday, September 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Watkins Auditorium of the Boling University Center. Roy Gutman's appearance is sponsored by Honors Programs.
