BSA Legacy Awards – This annual award presentation kicks off the UTM Black History
Month Celebration. The award is presented to an outstanding member of the Black
community who has made significant contributions to UTM which continue to impact the
students of today. The first Legacy Award was presented to UTM’s first African-American
administrator, Mr. Harold Conner.
Black History Month – With the Office of Multicultural Affairs taking the lead, the BSA plays
an integral part in the coordination of a university-wide celebration of Black History
Month. The BSA also plans a number of events for the month.
Martin Luther King Candlelight Vigil – Held on the evening of MLK day, the annual
candlelight vigil is an opportunity for the UTM and Martin communities to join together in celebrating Dr. King’s life.
