Young Scholars Academy - Application Process

The purpose of Young Scholars Academy (YSA) is to expose students who are underrepresented in higher education to a world of opportunities. This non-credit program engages students in an interactive learning environment that stresses creative and innovative leadership experiences for a select group of West Tennessee’s best students—students with a potential for leadership in the 21st century.

YSA is a one-week summer residential program designed for students who will be juniors and seniors in fall, 2009 (sophomores and juniors at the time of application). The program provides tuition, room, board, and instructional materials for each student.

2. Students must be recommended by a teacher and guidance counselor.
3.  Students must be highly motivated, have demonstrated a high level of accomplishment in at least two areas of academic emphasis, and must be mature enough to participate   effectively in a week-long residency program of intensive study.
