Dr. Dwight D. Gatwood, Professor of Music, teaches courses in the music theory sequence, including ear training, as well as world music, music appreciation, and studio voice. The composer of UTM’s Alma Mater, and UTM’s Centennial Celebration Music, his numerous compositions have been performed in more than 50 festivals of new music throughout the United States and abroad. He has presented numerous sessions at regional and national MENC conferences, and his research in electro-acoustic music, and world music, have resulted in a number of published articles. Dr. Gatwood’s compositions have been published by Alexander Broude, and The Brass Press. As a performer, he has been bass-baritone soloist with the Paducah Symphony, the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, and numerous civic choruses, and also serves as a trombonist in brass chamber music at U.T. Martin.
