Dr. Johnathan Vest is an Associate Professor of Music and the Coordinator of Music Education at the University of TN at Martin, where he teaches music education methods courses and supervises student teachers.
Dr. Vest earned the Bachelor of Music Education from Harding University, a Master of Arts in Music from Middle Tennessee State University, and a Doctor of Education from the University of Alabama. He taught public school music in the Nashville, TN area for 12 years. He has presented research at the Society for Music Teacher Education, the Society for Research in Music Education and at the National Association for Music Education Conferences. In addition, he has served as a clinician for Middle Tennessee Vocal Association elementary and middle school mass choirs. He is currently the President-Elect of the Tennessee Music Education Association (TMEA). He also holds a Level III Orff-Schulwerk Certification.
He is a member of TMEA, the National Association for Music Education Association, the American Orff-Schulwerk Association, The Association of American Kodaly Educators, and Phi Kappa Phi.
Friends of Music
Friends of Music sponsors concerts, guest artists, and educational events on campus, provides scholarships for deserving music students and enhances the musical life of UT Martin students.
