BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Johnathan Vest is an Assistant Professor of Music and the Coordinator of Music Education and the University of TN at Martin, where he teachers music education methods courses, class piano, film music, and supervises student teachers. 

Dr. Vest earned the Bachelor of Music Education from Harding University, a Master of Arts in Music from Middle Tennessee State University, and a doctorate in music education from the University of Alabama. He also holds a Level III Orff-Schulwerk Certification.

He taught public school music in the Nashville, TN area for 12 years. During his time in Nashville, he served on numerous boards and committees, most recently on the Tennessee State Music Standards Revision Committee. He also served as a clinician for Middle Tennessee Vocal Association elementary and middle school mass choirs, and is a frequent presenter at Orff-Schulwerk, TMEA and CNAfME events. 

He is a member of the National Association for Music Education, the Tennessee Music Educators Association, and the American Orff-Schulwerk Association, and Phi Kappa Phi.
