Chamber Ensembles

Instrumentalists in the Department of Music will find many opportunities to participate in chamber ensembles coached or directed by faculty members. In addition to smaller mixed chamber ensembles, students can participate in Clarinet choir, Saxophone choir and quartets, Horn Ensemble, Trombone Choir, Trumpet Ensemble, Brass Quintet, UTM Undersound (Large Tuba/Euphonium ensemble) Tuba and Euphonium Quartets, and Percussion Ensemble. Clarinet Choir - directed by Dr. Elizabeth Aleksander 

The UTM Clarinet Choir provides performance opportunities for clarinetists across the campus and throughout the community, including clarinet majors and minors, students majoring in another instrument or program, and community members. It offers students the opportunity to work with other clarinetists and to play auxiliary instruments, from the Eb soprano clarinet to the Bb contrabass clarinet. Clarinet Choir rehearses one hour per week and performs once or twice per semester. Saxophone Choir

Saxophone choir is a group ranging in size from 15-25 saxophones, utilizing soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones. This ensemble performs on and off campus and is open to all student on campus, regardless of major. No audition is required and the ensemble rehearses 1 hour each week. Saxophone Quartets

These ensembles rehearse works from the standard literature and work with living composers to premiere new works written specifically for them. Membership in the ensembles is by audition, and the groups tour nationally and internationally each year. Trombone Choir - directed by Dr. Joseph W. Frye

The UTM Trombone Choir is designed to serve as a pedagogical extension of the Trombone Studio, giving students the opportunity to apply skills learned in lessons in a musical setting. The choir is a very active part of the Department of Music at UT Martin, performing regular concerts on campus as well as several outreach concerts a year including performing at UTM athletic events and other community venues. Membership in the Trombone Choir is open to all trombone-playing students currently enrolled at UT Martin.

 

TUEU Ensemble - directed by Dr. Bill Watermann
