The UTM Percussion Society is for percussionists, majors and non-majors alike, attending the University of Tennessee at Martin. The purposes of this organization is to further the pursuit of music education with regards to percussion at UTM, to support percussion music in all communities-- surrounding and distant, and to encourage and embrace the universal language of music as a means of tolerance and understanding of cultures around the globe. Members of UTMPS are involved in the Roots of Rhythm tour across West Tennessee schools, local drum circles, UTM Music concerts, events like World Bizarre, and much more. This organization goes on regular travel studies across the globe to study different cultures and their music. Recent trips have included Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago, and Mexico.
