Field Experiences and Student Teaching

The UTM MEPP operates under the belief that students should experience philosophy and practice simultaneously. To that end, students who major in music education are in the field as early as their sophomore year. Throughout the program, students observe, participate and teach in real - world educational settings to adequately prepare them for student teaching, and ultimately, a professional career in music education. The student teaching experience consists of 15 weeks of teaching, half of that being in a K - 6 placement, the other in a 7 - 12 placement.
