Event Overview

The Dance Days workshop is UTM Dance Education Program's 1st Summer Dance Intensive for ages 13-21. It will be held in the dance studio in the Elam Center at the University of Tennessee Martin. During this event, patrons will have a chance to take between 4-6 dance classes during the workshop, which begins in the early evening with sign-in, and continues to the next full day classes, and ends with morning classes into a pool party!

We suggest students choose 2-3 classes on DAY 1, and 1-2 classes on DAY 2 (no more than 5 classes total). Providing the optimum awareness of technique and performance is our goal in this Dance Days Event.

The event showcases UTM's Dance Education Program by having 3 highly skilled Dance Education Candidates teach various classes. Our student teachers for this event are Michaela Bland (Assistant Student Coordinator of Event), Jayla Brown (Senior Dance Educator), and Keinesia Mason (Student Coordinator). In addition, the Program's Associate Professor of Dance, Sarah McCormick, will teach various upper-level advanced courses. We rejoice in teaching to different types of student learners and to different age groups. Bringing further awareness of dance in our community and the relevance of developing creative dance technicians and performers is of great importance to the UTM K-12 Dance Education Program, housed in the Department of Visual & Theatre Arts.

Please note I, Sarah McCormick, as Director of UTM Dance Days and Coordinator of the K-12 Dance Education Program at UTM, will make sure the studio has water and healthy snacks available for students during the day.

If you have questions concerning classes, please feel free and contact Sarah McCormick, MFA, Associate Professor Dance Education at the University of Tennessee Martin, - For all other camp questions, you may also contact, Debbie Mount,
