ACT Prep For High School Juniors and Seniors

Raise your ACT score with the most comprehensive, scientific and accountable method of preparing for high-stakes standardized tests. With the help of professional University of Tennessee instructors, learn how to complete test problems based on question frequency, difficulty, substantive knowledge, curriculum and alternative test-taking strategies. Students will also learn how to maximize their score in the allotted time. Begin the course by taking an official off-record ACT test (don’t forget to bring two “#2” pencils). Receive feedback on specific areas and let our instructors successfully guide you through the exam based on your data. At the end of the program, students take another official off-record ACT exam. Once you receive your post-test data, our instructors will meet one-on-one to provide a final study plan in preparation to the real exam. A calculator is not necessary, but if a student chooses to use one, it must be a calculator permitted by ACT. Check here to see if your calculator is approved:

Pharmacy Technician Program

Dates: Saturdays, March 15-June 21, 2014 (no class 4/19 or 5/24)

Time: 8:00am-Noon

This comprehensive 50 hour course will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's PTCB Exam. Technicians work in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies and other health care settings-working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Course content includes medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement.

Phlebotomy Technician Program

Dates: Saturdays, March 15-September 13, 2014 (no class 4/19, 5/24/ 7/5, or 8/30)

Fee: 8:00am-Noon

Fee: $1,599, includes books and supplies


This 90 hour Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology; blood collection procedures; specimen hands-on practice; and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. Note: There is no outside externship rotation included with this program. A great way to begin a new career! Phlebotomy Tech Certification through National Healthcare Association (NHA). The NHA Certification Exam is given at the end of class. The cost of the exam is an additional $105 (as of April 2011) and is paid directly to NHA. The instructor will arrange for the registration and payment of the exam. NHA is accredited through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
