Percussion Funding

Giving

UT Martin Percussionists are awarded and eligible to apply for numerous scholarships/financial awards for travel and research projects during their degree programs at UTM. These scholarships are in addition to the financial aid provided by the Department of Music and the University.

At UT Martin, we strongly encourage and support all of our students participating in travel based research as both groups and individuals. This invaluable learning experience prepares our students as culturally aware global citizens for a variety of professional opportunities. See below for funding opportunities for research projects.

UTMPS-Vargason STRIVE Scholarship

The University of Tennessee at Martin Percussion Society and alumnus Mr. Daniel Vargason are proud to offer the UTMPS-Vargason STRIVE scholarship, which funds UTM percussion students interested in travel related research. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage percussion students to engage in research and creative activities, such as summer music festivals, camps, seminars, and research trips around the United States and internationally.

SGA Travel Study/Study Abroad Scholarships

The Student Government Association awards scholarships to students participating in travel-study programs (at least one week in duration), language immersion programs (at least three weeks in duration), and study-abroad programs lasting one semester or an entire academic year. Normally, these will be programs sponsored by UTM, but students may request support for the travel-study/study-abroad programs they have developed on their own.

Stan Sieber Student Travel Award

The Stan Sieber Student Travel Award provides financial assistance to UTM students seeking personal enrichment and a broadly-based international perspective through academic travel.

Friends of Music

Friends of Music provides support for students to participate in professional musical events/conferences, summer festivals/workshops, internships, and select commissions/consortiums.
