Kyle Myrick

What are you doing now?

I am currently enrolled in the Master of Healthcare Administration Program at the University of Memphis. I am also serving as a graduate assistant at the UT Medical Group. Upon graduation, I would like to work in clinical operations for a healthcare organization.

How did UTM Psychology Program help you achieve what you have become?

The UT Martin psychology program provided me with the means and motivation to reach my goals. The smaller class sizes coupled with the accessibility of faculty created an environment many students only find at expensive private schools. Psi Chi allowed me to stay involved with community service and bond with my classmates. Psychology 315 and 318 with Dr. MacKewn provided me with the base knowledge and quantitative understanding I am currently using in graduate-level courses on finance and quantitative measures. UT Martin provided me with an incredible undergraduate experience that I would recommend to anyone.

What advice would you give to students who are thinking about becoming UTM psychology majors?

Psychology is a wonderful choice, regardless of what field you want to pursue. It provides you with skills in writing, critical thinking and statistical analysis all under one major. My advice is to pick something you love in undergrad (for me that was psychology) and apply it toward what you want to accomplish long-term.
