The following are the crime statistics for the UT Martin community for the previous three years. The statistics, provided in compliance with Tennessee's College and University Security Information Act, as well as the Federal Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990, are for your information as part of UT Martin's overall safety program.
Effective Aug. 14, 2008 Congress implemented the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) which is a reauthorization of the above listed Acts and in compliance with the Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Cleary Act). One aspect of the HEOA is an expansion of hate crime statistics to include the crimes of larceny-theft, simple assault, intimidation, and destruction, damage, or vandalism of property, when such crimes are classified as a hate crime.
A Hate Crime is defined as: a crime in which the victim was intentionally selected because of the actual or perceived race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or disability of the victim. Hate crimes in the tables below are classified as Crimes of Prejudice.
