The Hamilton-Ryker Career Development Program broadens the service role of the UT Martin REED Center and the CBPA by benefiting students, graduates and regional employers by providing a link between academia and practice. The service of connecting students and graduates with companies is in line with the Hamilton-Ryker business plan and tied to the collective mission of UT Martin, the College of Business and Public Affairs, and the REED Center. The primary components of the Hamilton-Ryker Career Development Program are:
- Students are required to have completed no less than 60 credit hours.
- A minimum GPA of 2.4 will be enforced to participate in the program (2.38 is not acceptable).
- Internships for credit remain a faculty/departmental issue. Your advisor must “ok” your internship to receive credit. Internships are optional to fulfill this program.
- Students are required to obtain a part-time job or have at least 6 months previous work experience in their major area.
- Three out of four sessions offered must be attended to receive certification for completing the program.
- Example sessions offered: job research skills, interviewing skills, presentation skills, resume preparation, networking, etc.
- The last session on business etiquette, which is mandatory, will include a meal and completion of program ceremony. Hamilton-Ryker representatives will be invited to award certificates.
- The Hamilton-Ryker Career Development Program Web page serves as a clearing house for students (resumes) and companies (job opportunities) and job information (e.g. links to companies’ internship/job sites etc.).
