Comprehensive, High-tech, High-touch Student Advising with Ellucian Degree Works

To build student academic self-efficacy, UT Martin will implement a comprehensive, student-centered advising program that will include Ellucian Degree Works, faculty development regarding advisement, and a Peer Academic Coaches (PAC) program, facilitating a high-tech/high-touch approach to academic advising. Ellucian Degree Works is a comprehensive academic advising, transfer articulation, and degree audit solution that will boost on-time graduation and retention rates, increase transfer approvals, and encourage the efficient selection of coursework.

The degree auditing component of Ellucian Degree Works provides clear visual indicators of degree progression and course requirements. Advisors and students will be able to access and view degree requirements, recommended sequencing of courses, and progress toward degree completion. With the implementation of Ellucian Degree Works and its communication capabilities, advisors will be better equipped for more personalized advising and collaboration with fellow advisors. The newly available what-if audits and look-ahead analyses will allow for more informed discussions about schedule modifications, major changes, and degree options. Web-based processing eliminates delays in course enrollment changes while user-friendly GPA calculators aid in student goal-setting.

Ellucian Degree Works will also provide administrators and faculty with a simple, efficient method of information gathering and reporting. Data analysis is available in a standard set of reports available in Ellucian Degree Works. The Curriculum Planning Assistant component will assist with planning for future course offerings and identifying enrollment patterns. An accessible database allows for queries to answer institutional questions about credits, courses, and graduation.
