PowerPoint is one of the best ways to share information with other people. I will show you how to build a PowerPoint, add slides, graphics, pictures, and format it in a way that is pleasing to your viewers. I will also show you how to navigate your way through the tools menu and create varying designs, transitions, and other enhancing features to show your PowerPoint as not just creative, but fun!

 

Internet Basics

Come and learn how to navigate your way through the Internet! You will learn how to create an e-mail account. You will learn how to use Internet etiquette in sending e-mails. I will show you how to attach documents to an e-mail message and how to incorporate text into the body of an e-mail. You will create folders for individual documents. I will show you how to store important documents for future usage and delete items that are no longer needed.

 

Personal Computer Advanced Topics

What do you need to know about your personal computer? Come and find out how your computer works and how it should be used. You will learn about some features of your computer that should be very important to you like maintenance, security, virus protection, viruses, logging on and off, defragging, cleaning your equipment, storing files and folders, and more.

 

Pharmacy Technician Program

Dates:Wednesdays and Fridays, March 12-May 2, 2014 (no class 4/18)

This comprehensive 50 hour course will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's PTCB Exam. Technicians work in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies and other health care settings-working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Course content includes medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement.

Clinical Medical Assistant

Dates: Wednesdays and Fridays, March 12-August 1, 2014 (no class 4/18 or 7/4)

Time: 5:30-9:00pm

Fee: $2,399 includes books and supplies

This program prepares medical assistant students to perform patient clinical skills in the medical office setting. Students perform clinical procedures including administering medications, assisting with minor surgery, performing an electrocardiogram, obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients, and maintaining clinical equipment in an ambulatory care setting.

Medical assistants perform routine clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, and optometrists running smoothly.


Clinical duties may include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treat-ment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physician during the examination. Medical assistants collect and prepare laboratory specimens or perform basic laboratory tests on the premises. They instruct patients about medication and special diets, prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician, authorize drug refills as directed, tele-phone prescriptions to a pharmacy, draw blood, prepare patients for x-rays, take electrocardiograms, and change dressings.

 

Phlebotomy Technician Program

Dates: Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays, March 10-May 12, 2014 (no class 4/18)

Time: 5:30-9:00pm

Fee: $1,599per person (Textbooks & Supplies included)

This 90 hour Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology; blood collection procedures; specimen hands-on practice; and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. Note: There is no outside externship rotation included with this program. A great way to begin a new career! Phlebotomy Tech Certification through National Healthcare Association (NHA). The NHA Certification Exam is given at the end of class. The cost of the exam is an additional $105 (as of April 2011) and is paid directly to NHA. The instructor will arrange for the registration and payment of the exam. NHA is accredited through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
