Organization Development Symposium

The schedule for the symposium will consist of morning breakout sessions and conclude with a lunch. Attendees of this symposium will put into one of three groups that rotate through all the sessions.

Order of Events

• 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. Registration – First floor of the University Center in front of the cafeteria
• 9:00 – 9:25 a.m. Call to order/welcome
  Icebreaker - Rachel Stephens: This is going to be a 20 minute get to know each other exercise to help wake everyone up.
  

   

  9:30 – 10:55 a.m. Breakout Session 1

• OrgSync Training in both sessions – Allison Kuty
  OrgSync is an online organization management system that is now available for all students and student leaders on campus. This new system provides a platform with more than 35 tools that helps student leaders more effectively lead and manage their student organizations. Some of the key features covered in this presentation are:

• Event planning & Campus resources - Rachel Stephens and Erin Coates
  Often times, organizations want to plan events that will impact the campus but have no idea how to start or how to get help. This session will help campus leaders plan events from how to come up with ideas all the way to putting on a final product. Using their years of experience, Erin and Rachel will provide a list of many of the campus the resources that are available to students to make their event unique and successful. By the time the sessions is over, participants will have created a mock organization event from printing flyers to renting camping equipment.

 

• Stay Up to Date with Student Life & Traveling/budget - David Taylor and Sammie Linton
  Traveling/budget
  This presentation will cover everything you need to know about traveling with your organization and how to budget and record all your organization’s finances.
  Stay Up to date with Student Life
  To take advantage of all the resources the University has to offer we ask that your organization register with the Office of Student Life every year. In this presentation, we review the registration process and why it is needed.
  

 

• 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Lunch and Group Case Study
  Organizations issues and obstacles - Sammie Linton
  During lunch, the attendees in their groups will each be giving a case study of issues and obstacles that a typical organization may face during the year. Each group will work together and find a solution.
