How do I configure my 802.11b wireless card to access the Wireless Network?
Wireless network cards come with vendor specific configuration utilities and drivers. It would be impossible to cover
all of them here. Please consult the users manual that came with your card for help using your configuration
utility. If you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2, there is a built in windows utility for configuring access
to the wireless network; however, not all hardware will work with this utility.

Once I have configured my wireless card and connected to the "Romulus" network, what do I do?
Once you are connected to Romulus, you should open your web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, NetScape, Moxilla, etc.).
You should be automatically re-directed to the BlueSocket login page. You should now enter your username and password
to access the Internet.

What is my (student) username and password?
The username and password combination you use here is the same you use to access the computers in the computer labs.
Your username should be the first three letters of your first name, your middle initial, and the first four letters of your
last name. Your password should initially be setup as the last four digits of your social security number followed by
your two digit birth month and the last two digits of the year you were born. For example, if your name is John Q
Public and your social security number is 123-45-6789 and you were born 01-15-1987, your username would be johqpubl and your
password would be 67890187. Of course, if you have trouble with your username or password you may contact the helpdesk
on campus at 7900 or off campus at 731-881-7900. Back to top
Now that I have been authenticated, what can I do?
Once you are authenticated, you can begin surfing the web. BlueSocket will only allow you to surf the internet.
Telnet, FTP, POP, and all other protocols are blocked. Faculty and staff may access these using the VPN.
