Wireless Network
POLICY Wireless access is provided on campus in the form of our Romulus Network. At this time the only residential area with Romulus wireless access is University Village. Any student living in a location where Romulus is not available may purchase a wireless access point (routers are not allowed) from the Computer Store and install it using their UTM provided ethernet connection. However, wireless access points are not allowed in areas serviced by our Romulus Network. The Office of Information Technology Services will provide limited support for access points purchased through the Computer Store in the same way we support wired ethernet connections. However, we make no guarantees about the usability of this student provided wireless network. Because of variables over which we have no control, such as RF interference from 2.4 Ghz cordless telephones, Bluetooth and other devices, wireless technologies may be or become unusable. |
