Unified Messaging
Unified Messaging is a voicemail enhancement to Microsoft Exchange. After the software is installed on your
PC and we configure your Voicemail account your Voicemail box becomes an extension of your Outlook email Inbox.
Your voicemail messages are then converted to WAV file attachments and can be opened and listened to using your computer's
sound card and speakers. Since your message is now a data file it can be attached to emails you send if it needs to be
forwarded.
When your Voicemail account is enabled with Unified Messaging it also allows you to use the Faxserver. A printer
driver is installed on your computer and when you are ready to print a document a selection for "fax" is available among
your installed printers. If selected, you are asked to enter the name of the recipient and their fax number plus
optional added information that would normally be included on a cover sheet. Once "send" is pressed the cover sheet
is created and sent to the fax number you desired along with your document.
If you already have a separate fax number and machine, its telephone number can be included in your Unified Messaging
configuration as an "alternate extension" and forwarded to 7590. Now, any faxes sent to your fax number will also go to
your Outlook Inbox. Truly a step toward the paperless office! You can still send paper faxes with your machine,
and if you remove the forward to 7590 it will continue to receive faxes as before.
Cost of Unified Messaging is a one-time charge of $85. If you're interested, please call 7900 to schedule your installation.
