MARTIN, Tenn. – Roots of Rhythm, a University of Tennessee at Martin world percussion ensemble, has cancelled a three-day tour beginning tonight in McNairy County at the Latta because of inclement weather.
The ensemble will perform Feb. 25 and 26 at UT Martin. The concert will give listeners a chance to learn about Black History Month (February) by exploring the migration of rhythm throughout history as taken by African nations across the globe through slave trade.
“This complete program allows audiences to gather information through listening, participating, observing and visualizing,” said Dr. Julie Hill, associate professor of music and director of percussion studies.
“The possibility for community and student enrichment with the context of multicultural education is limitless.”
