Peterson/Hayes duo set to perform Sept. 24

MARTIN, Tenn. – The Peterson/Hayes percussion and flute duo made up of celebrated musicians Eric Peterson and Kristin Hayes of San Antonio, Texas, will perform at 7:30 p.m., Sept. 24, in room 112, of the Boling University Center, on the main campus of the University of Tennessee at Martin.

In addition to the duo, Peterson and Hayes have extensive performance experience.

Peterson, the percussionist of the duo, has performed with the John Cage Percussion Players, Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and was featured on "A Company of Voices - Conspirare in Concert" CD and DVD that was nominated for a Grammy. As an educator, he has also worked with several programs including the Tallahassee Symphony Youth Orchestra, Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps and UTSA Indoor Drum Line.

Hayes currently holds positions at the University of Texas at San Antonio and St. Mary’s University. She teaches flute and during the summer, teaches and performs at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and UTSA’s Flute Camp. She also performs with the Opera Piccola of San Antonio, the Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio and the Mid-Texas Symphony.

Among pieces the duo will perform are “Mobbing Calls for flute and percussion” by Steven Snowden, “Pipeaubec: 2 pìeces pour flûte à bec et petite percussion” by André Jolivet and “Chapter One, Page One for solo flute and live audio processing” by Ian Dicke,

The performance is sponsored by the UT Martin Department of Music and is free and open to the public.
