Contact 1: Casey Scarbrough, Office of University Relations

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin is now a more affordable college option for out-of-state residents. In 2012, UT Martin began waiving out-of-state tuition for applicants with an ACT score of 25 or above and a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Students who qualify must also participate in the university's Honors Programs.

The tuition break is valued at about $12,400 per year, and applicants will also be eligible for university scholarships such as the Deans, Chancellors and University Scholars. Satisfactory academic progress is required to retain any scholarship.

Prospective students can apply online and find scholarship information at www.utm.edu. The deadline to apply for scholarships is Feb. 1, 2013.

UT Martin was founded in 1900 as Hall-Moody Institute and is in the top-tier for southern master’s level universities in the 2013 edition of America's Best Colleges compiled by U.S.News & World Report. The Princeton Review also lists UT Martin as “ABest Southeastern College" for 2013.
