MARTIN, Tenn. – For the past nine years, the Interfaith Student Center has partnered with local potter David McBeth to reach out to the Martin community and raise money for the We Care food pantry. Their ninth annual Empty Bowls Soup Supper fundraiser will be held from 5-7 p.m., Nov. 15, at the Interfaith Student Center on Lovelace Avenue in Martin.
For a $10 donation, visitors can enjoy an all-you-can-eat soup supper and take home one of McBeth’s handcrafted bowls. A $5 donation is requested for those who only wish to eat, but UT Martin students can eat for free. All donations will help feed the hungry in Weakley County.
McBeth, a professor in the Department of Visual and Theatre Arts, donates his time and the cost of materials to make bowls for the supper each year. UT Martin students also help with meal preparations, serving and clean-up, as well as making some of the bowls.
