UT Martin Online MBA Earns No. 3 Ranking in the Nation

MARTIN, Tenn. – Affordable Colleges Online (AC Online) recently identified the 30 best online MBA programs in the nation, and the University of Tennessee at Martin is No. 3.

“To be ranked No. 3 nationally for affordability indicates the level of external recognition and offers further proof of our efforts to control costs for our students,” UT Martin Chancellor Tom Rakes said.

AC Online’s analysis factors in academic excellence, strength of faculty, student engagement and selectivity. The website also limited inclusion on the list to programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

“Colleges that offer online MBA programs give young professionals the academic flexibility they need to get ahead,” said Dan Schuessler, founder of AC Online. “What’s more, the MBA programs on our list have been recognized for academic and faculty excellence.”

The UT Martin MBA program is fully accredited by the nation’s premier business school agency, Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AASCB).

“This is just part of the reason we are able to offer an exceptional value for our students, not only in Tennessee, but throughout the nation,” Rakes said.

AC Online analyzed data from a number of sources to compile the top online MBA list:

- NCES is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education. It provides consistent, reliable, complete and accurate indicators of education status and trends.

- IPEDS is the primary federal source for data on colleges, universities and technical and vocational postsecondary schools in the U.S.
- Carnegie Classification is a framework widely used in the study of higher education, both as a way to represent and control for institutional differences, and also in the design of research studies to ensure adequate representation of sampled institutions, students or faculty.

- U.S. News & World Report is a diverse publisher of information on many subjects, including education, finance and health. Their education rankings have become a common metric for quality and a badge of honor for the academic community.

Earlier this summer AC Online ranked UT Martin fifth out of 54 colleges in most affordable online-degree programs.

“We are proud of the quality of the students who have graduated from this program (the Online MBA for Banking and Financial Services Professionals),” said Dr. Kevin Hammond, coordinator of graduate programs in business.

Hammond called the distinction “a well-deserved tribute to our faculty and administration for their foresight in the design, support and implementation of this unique program.”
