Dr. Teresa Collard, Director of the Women's Center and Coordinator of Women's Studies, is a tenured assistant professor in the Department of Communications.She has served as Coordinator of the Women's Studies minor since 1998. She served on the committee that established the Women's Studies minor on UT Martin's campus and regularly teaches courses for the minor.
In February 2010, Dr. Collard proposed the creation of a women's center for the UT Martin campus. Former Chancellor Rakes and Vice Chancellor Ogg approved the proposal, and the UT Martin Women's Center opened in January of 2011. Dr. Collard continues to promote gender equality through programs and activities of the Women's Center.
The UT Martin Women's Center Advisory Board is comprised of faculty, staff, students, and community representatives. The Advisory Board serves as a liaison between the Women's Center, campus, and community. The Women's Center Advisory Board plays an active role in guiding and supporting activities and programs sponsored by the Women's Center. They are vital to the success of the Women's Center.
