Facebook is a social networking website where you can interact and socialize with others who have chosen to participate in Facebook. An example of this type of website that you may already participate in is LinkedIn. LinkedIn is geared toward networking with other business colleagues. Facebook is geared toward networking with others on a more personal basis. So what are some things that you can do in Facebook?
1. Post personal information about your education, hobbies, contact information, and work history.
2. Upload pictures to share with others.
3. List your favorite books, music, and movies.
4. Send messages to others inside Facebook, chat with them, and post public messages on your friend’s pages.
5. Search for information about your favorite music artists, actors, causes, and TV shows.
6. Join ‘groups’ of other Facebook members who have chosen to come together as a group to support something…like Weststar Leadership.
7. And much, much, more!!
So what can you do if you participate in a Facebook Group?
1. Have discussions with other group members.
2. Post pictures so all group members can see them.
3. Share video clips with other group members.
4. Learn about important events that are happening within the group.
Here are the steps to ‘join’ the Weststar Group inside Facebook:
1. Open up a free account at www.facebook.com
2. On your main Facebook page (also called your Facebook ‘Home’ page), look in the lower left corner of the screen and click on the word “Applications”.
3. Your list of Facebook Applications will now pop up.
4. Click on “Groups”.
5. On the next page, locate the “search for groups” field in the upper right corner. Click in that field and type “Weststar Leadership”, then press your ‘enter’ key.
6. The next page will list the Weststar Leadership group.
7. Click on the Weststar Leadership logo, and the Weststar Leadership Group will load on the screen.
8. In the right column, look for the link that says “Request To Join Group” and click it.
9. That’s it, you’re done!
