Introduction to fundamentals of economic vitality in West Tennessee . Using real examples of success and failure, this session covers a litany of challenges West Tennessee leaders face in building better communities and the possible strategies used for meeting those challenges
"Education: Creating Partnerships for Economic Development "
February 12-13, 2009, Dyersburg
Education is the foundation for economic and social development of West Tennessee . Class members will see where the innovative changes are occurring and learn how to evaluate the educational capacity of their own communities.
"Public Policy Issues: What is Happening in Tennessee?"
March 5-6, 2009, Nashville
Meetings with legislative and government leaders who are shaping the future of Tennessee . Give-and-take discussion of policy issues is held with a majority of West Tennessee legislators, members of the Governor's cabinet and constitutional officers of the state.
"Health, Welfare, and Social Consequences: The Humanity of Leadership "
March 24-25, 2009, Nashville
This is an exciting program and potentially emotional experience as participants address the social needs, poverty, the criminal justice system, and health-care programs in West Tennessee . An intense and fast-paced session that gives class members an opportunity to visit some of the agencies that deal with the human issues of leadership responsibility.
