The West Tennessee Writing Project is located in the Department of English and Modern Foreign Languages at The University of Tennessee at Martin.  It is one of over 200 sites of the National Writing Project.

The purpose of WTWP is to improve writing and writing instruction in West Tennessee schools, K-16.  WTWP operates under these principles:

  • writing will improve as writing instruction improves
  • the best teacher of a teacher is another excellent teacher
  • teachers of writing should be practicing writers
