The West Tennessee Writing Project is located in the Department of English and Modern Foreign Languages at The University of Tennessee at Martin. It is one of over 200 sites of the National Writing Project.
The purpose of WTWP is to improve writing and writing instruction in West Tennessee schools, K-16. WTWP operates under these principles:

WTWP Teacher Consultants will present a break-out session for teachers during UT Martin's annual Young Writers Conference on Friday, November 8, 2013. Titled "Creativity and the Common Core," the session will offer strategies to help students think for themselves within the rubrics of Common Core.
Writing on Water, a Writing Retreat for WTWP Teacher Consultants, was August 9-10, 2013.
The 2013 Invitational Summer Institute was May 11 and June 3-13, 2013. 8 new teachers presented teaching demonstrations, shared drafts of writing in progress, and earned 52 Renewal Points.
