Weight Watchers

A Healthy Hawk Hoorah out to Karen Elmore from the Library and Bill Brundige from Human Resources. Karen led the charge to bring a Weight Watchers group to the UTM Campus, and Bill worked his HR magic and made it a reality. The first meeting was held in February of 2018. Weekly meeting are held every Tuesday @ 11:30 in room 118 of the Library.

Approximately 28 members attend the weekly meetings, and many others who are unable to participate in the face-to-face meetings are involved with the online Weight Watchers program. As a result of their participation in this program, at least three individuals have met their lifetime weight goal that was jointly set by themselves and their physicians. Many others have reduced the dosage or eliminated Rx drugs they were taking for hypertension, hypercholesterolemia and type II diabetes.

Weight Watchers dieters are not restricted to specific foods or activities. A point system is used to monitor food intake on a daily basis. The Weight Watchers program encourages members to develop lifetime behavior changes in their eating behaviors which include eating more fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and less fatty and sugary foods. If you would like additional information about the program feel free to contact Bill Brundige 881-7850 or Karen Elmore 881-7094.
