The acquisition of French as a second language and a better understanding of French-speaking cultures around the globe.
Students will have access to faculty holding PhDs in the field who are dedicated to undergraduate teaching. The size of our department allows faculty to mentor students on a one on one basis. We get to know our majors and minors well, being able to effectively direct them in the course of their studies and future career goals.
Students will have the opportunity to travel and study in France and Quebec thanks to the department’s partnership with foreign universities.
The possibilities are numerous, but most students with a degree in French choose teaching, attending graduate school, working with the government or for a private international business.
We have a very dynamic French club, organized and directed by students under faculty supervision. French majors and minors can also join the National French Honor Society.
Tech classrooms and a state of the art language laboratory foster the acquisition of French at the lower and upper division courses.
The faculty has a broad background and can teach a variety of subjects within their field.
