The Management major and faculty at the University of Tennessee at
Martin provide students with the foundational knowledge necessary for the
pursuit of employment in the field of organizational management or operations
management, in both profit and non-profit organizations The management
major allows students to develop knowledge that best suits their career goals. In addition, upon graduation, students majoring in management will have the framework necessary to further their education at the graduate level. Students participate in courses designed to develop skills and knowledge required to achieve career goals. Students completing this program are employed in many and varied types of organizations.
The Management faculty at the University of Tennessee at Martin work to establish long lasting relationships with our students.
The small class sizes allow faculty to provide individualized instruction and attention to our students.
Faculty advise each student which allow an opportunity to develop their own course choices to future career aspirations.
All business majors are part of an AACSB accredited College of Business and Public Affairs making it one of less than 15% of business schools world-wide to achieve such a designation.
Each semester after obtaining junior status, UTM Management majors are provided with the opportunity to participate in the student internship program. Students may intern with an organization requesting an internship or ma locate, on their own, an organization wanting to sponsor an internship.
Each year students may participate in travel-study programs, international study semesters, or other opportunities to broaden their experiences and knowledge about global issues facing business organizations today and in the future.
After graduation students can begin a career as an entry level manager or continue
their education at the graduate level. Opportunities include, but are not limited to :
- Employment within business organizations or governmental agencies
- Employment in general management areas or operations management
- Acceptance into graduate school
- Acceptance into law school
Students may join one of several student organizations within the College of Business and Public Affairs.
Students with a high grade point average may be selected to become a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society.
Only AACSB institutions have Beta Gamma Sigma chapters and students must be in the top 10 percent of their junior or senior class ranking.
All classrooms are furnished with the latest technology for educational purposes (computers, VCRs, and DVD players)
Internet access is available in each classroom through Ethernet or wireless connections.
