Black History Month
February 28, 2002
This year's conference will

resulting from the landmark 1962 Tennessee case

and the effect that decision has had in securing representation
for all the people of Tennessee and the other United States.
The Conference will feature
prominent speakers who have played
an important role in the pursuit of electoral change, a panel
discussion
featuring many of the participants, and a film presentation
which provides an overview and summary. On Thursday, February
28,
five African Americans who were among the first of their race
to be
elected to political office in West Tennessee will be recognized.
