We have a fantastic Welcome Week from August 20-22 designed to transition you into UT Martin and the City of Martin! Please contact Mrs. Sherry Hatchel in the Student Success Center via telephone at 731-881-1689 or email at shatchel@utm.edu with any questions about Welcome Week or General Studies 101. Please contact housing with residence hall related questions at 731-881-7730.
The summary calendar below details the times and event for beginning the course and Welcome Week. Please record the following important dates and events in your calendar as you plan and prepare for the fall semester.

GENS 101 Enrolled Students Move-In Residence Halls

Check-In at assigned residence hall
Various student and community groups will be available to help move possessions. |
1:00 to 4:00 p.m. |
CLEP exams administered. Students wishing to complete CLEP exams must contact Mrs. Evy Goddard at 881-7727 to reserve time and space for the exam(s). |
| 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. |
Math Challenge Exam. Students wishing to challenge their
math placement may do so by via the math challenge exam.
Students report to Watkins Auditorium. |
| 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. |
Skyhawk Central opens in UC Ballroom
Skyhawk Central is open for students, parents, and family to visit to ask questions or to conduct business related to fall enrollment.
Before checking-in at 5:30 p.m. in the Quadrangle
for Welcome Week, please be sure you have completed,
obtained, supplied, or verified the critical checklist on the
previous page.
Recommendation: Commuters and apartment renters use morning hours to conduct business. On-Campus residence hall students eat lunch in the Cafeteria and use the afternoon hours to visit Skyhawk Central to conduct business. |

Lunch Opportunities
Enjoy a Sodexho lunch in the cafeteria or at one of the many
restaurants in Martin. A listing of restaurants close to campus will be available in the University Center. |

Family Dinner Time in Martin
This time is set aside for families to eat dinner in Martin and share some
private moments before checking-in for Welcome Week in the Quadrangle. |

Welcome Week Check-In at the Quadrangle
5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mandatory Check-In at the Quadrangle for Students enrolled in GENS 101 and Welcome Week. Check-In tables in the quadrangle will be setup for students to check-in, obtain their nametag, name of PEP Leader, group number, seating assignment for opening ceremony in Elam Center. |
| 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. |
Commencement Walk
Entering students will walk from the Quadrangle to the Elam Center through the Commencement Arch to symbolize their transition from high school to college. Parents and families are invited to sit in the bleachers adjacent to the Elam Center to view the Commencement Walk and to take photographs. |

Skyhawk Parents Association
Parents and families are invited to attend the Skyhawk Parents Association meeting in Skyhawk Fieldhouse. Tim Trimble and Sherry Hatchel will be hosting the meeting, sharing information, and answering questions. |

GENS 101 and Welcome Week Opening Assembly in Elam Center
Note: Mandatory attendance for those enrolled in GENS 101 |

Students come together for the opening assembly in the Elam Center
to be welcomed and to hear our keynote speaker, Bill Cordes.
Mr. Cordes is a nationally known motivational speaker who will
challenge, motivate, and share YOGOWYPI! After the opening assembly, students will adjourn to classrooms
for their initial meeting with their PEP Leader. At the meeting,
students will get to know each other, receive their Welcome Week schedule, and begin the transition into UTM.
The initial meeting will be adjourned in time for residence hall
students to attend the 10:00 p.m. mandatory hall meeting with
their RA and Hall Director. |
| Weekend Note: |
Saturday-Sunday, 8/23-24, have optional activities planned for students remaining on-campus for the weekend. Students are responsible for meals on the weekend. Campus ministries will provide a free meal and program on Saturday night. |
