Our goals

The goals of the Japanese Animation Research Society are to provide a welcoming environment for students to meet and mingle with people with similar interests, to educate and broaden horizons on the topic of anime and related topics, and to have fun doing both.  We also hope to help eliminate some of the common misconceptions about anime and anime fans and to help others learn to appreciate Japanese Animation as a respectable art form in the United States.

“Welcome to official University of Tennessee at Martin's student organization and official anime club, the Japanese Animation Research Society, aka JARS!

Our meetings

We meet every Thursday from 6:30pm to roughly 8:30pm in UC room 229.  Please feel free to stop in and see what we're all about - New people are always welcome!  After the business portion of the meeting, we usually have a brief viewing, complete with a research and culture presentation by one of our members.  The last bit of the meeting is reserved for event and activity setup - Check out Upcoming Events to see what we're up to!

Our achievements

We're brand new!  Due to over a year and a half of hard work, precious time, and exceptional effort from our founding members and new members alike, the Japanese Animation Research Society was finally recognized as an official organization of the University of Tennessee at Martin during the Spring 2005 semester, which makes the Japanese Anime Research Society and official UTM Organization!
