Thought for the Week

You have to recognize when the right place and the right time fuse and take advantage of that opportunity.   There are plenty of opportunities out there.   You can’t sit back and wait.                --   Ellen Metcalf

Pancake Day Ticket Proposal

The membership voted last week to require each club member to be responsible for 15 tickets or $60.00.   You might wonder why the board recommendation had to be voted upon by the membership.   According to Kiwanis Bylaws, the board can only recommend a fee be imposed upon the membership.   The membership must voted to accept this themselves.

Mid-Winter Conference

The Mid-Winter Conference is February 11 – 13 at Jackson, Mississippi.   The registration deadline is approaching for any member wanting to attend.

Air Evac Sponsorhip

The Air Evac Lifeteam emergency helicopter ambulance service provides a fund raising opportunity for organizations by donating $10 back to the organization if the subscriber requests   it.   Our club has been given a code and for each new subscriber putting this code on his/her form, Air Evac donates $10 to our club.   To date, we have received $50 for our club.   Our code number is 885 .

Leave of Absence

If a member is unable to attend club meetings due to work, travel or other circumstances, the member may request a Leave of Absence from the club for a specified time period.   The member should make a written request to the Board of Directors stating the time period involved and the reason for the Leave.   The Board will act upon the request and notify the member if it was granted or not.   A leave may be requested for no less than 1 month or no more than 6 months a one time .
